Local man competes in Toronto golf tournament

Laurentian Voyageur John Atherton finished off his trip to the 2008 Toronto Star Amateur last week with a final round of 10-over-par 82, bring his tournament total to 313.

He finished the four day event in tied-for-34th place 27 strokes back of the winner Jeff Clarridge from National Pines Golf Club.

The Donalda Golf Club member took to St. George's Golf and Country Club for rounds one and two of the tournament carding a 75 and 77 in the first two rounds respectively.

After making the cut for the final two rounds the tournament shifted to the Mississauga Golf and Country Club where Atherton shot a 79 in round three and an 82 in round four.
