Curling fans in Sudbury better hurry hard into the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club for some of the finest action around all this week.

The Dominion of Canada Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championships is being decided at the historic club, with action starting Monday.

The event runs through until Sunday, Feb. 11, when a new championship squad will be crowned.

Greater Sudbury is represented by two teams, both who curl out of the Sudbury Curling Club.

Looking to make their mark in the event are the Tim Phillips and the Jamie Morphet rinks.

The Phillips foursome consists of skip Tim Phillips, third Ron Henderson, second Dion Dumontelle and lead Doug Hong.

The Morphet squad features skip Jamie Morphet, third Sandy MacEwan, second Ian Dickie and lead Kyle Paradis.

Today, Wednesday, Feb. 7, is a big day for both local rinks.

At 2 pm, both teams hit the ice for action. On Sheet Two, Phillips takes on the Al Harden Rink from the Soo Curlers Curling Club. While on Sheet Three, Morphet squares off against the Rob Gordon Rink from the Cobalt-Haileybury Curling Club.

Later on in the day, the two local teams hook up for an all-Sudbury match.

At 7:30 pm sharp, the rocks will fly as the Morphet and Phillips  collide on Sheet Four.

The winner of the tournament will earn the right to represent Northern Ontario at the Brier in Hamilton in March.

A week-long pass costs $50, while a day pass is $10. A single game pass goes for $5.
