Laurentian University Athletics has named
Matt Brown as the Keg Steakhouse and Bar Athlete of the
Week.
From Dec. 28 to 30, the Voyageurs men's
basketball team travelled west to Victoria, B.C. to take part
in the Accent Inns Holiday Classic.
Laurentian faced its first competition on the
28th, playing against the number two ranked UBC Thunderbirds.
Although the Thunderbirds walked away
with a lopsided 92-61 victory, the Voyageurs
were paced by Brown, who chipped in 15 points in 32 minutes of
play.
Game two of the tournament saw the Voyageurs
take on the unranked Trinity Western Spartans. In what proved
to be a thriller the Voyageurs won by a final 75-74 score. Once
again Brown was a force as he added 12 points in only 16
minutes of court time.
On the last day of the tournament the
Voyageurs competition was the number six ranked University of
Victoria. In what proved to be another hard fought Voyageur
loss, Brown once again led the Voyageurs with a 21 point
performance in 33 minutes.
The Voyageurs and Lady Vees will be back in
action this weekend as the teams travel to Windsor on Friday,
Jan. 6 and then to London on Saturday, Jan. 7.
