The Laurentian University soccer teams added two more wins to their records on the weekend, each blanking the Trent Excalibur teams 2-0 on the Sudbury field.

The Lady Vees' Lisa Watson, of Newmarket, found the net for her second game in a row, while Katie Larue, of Sault Ste. Marie, added an insurance goal in the second half. Victoria Kulczycki, of London, was credited with the shut-out. Sudbury native Erin Persi made eight saves in a losing effort for Trent.

“We accomplished our goal, we wanted to go 3-1-0 and that is what we have done,” said head coach Rob Gallo. “I think we found ourselves and I was really proud of the girls and I was able to put in some of the rookies. Katie Larue changed the whole momentum of the game when she went in; she did a great job.”

The Voyageurs took the field next, mirroring the results of the Lady Vees.

James Bond, of Hamilton, found the net in the first half off a free kick, while Charlottetown native Davor Alisic provided an insurance goal late in the second half. Scott Cliff, of Hanmer, recorded the shut-out in the victory.

“Glad again that we got the three points, but I still think we could have played better,” said head coach Carlo Castrechino. “The defence is playing really well for us right now and if we can get more offensive chances, we'll be tough to stop.”

The Laurentian teams will head out on the road this weekend, taking on the Queen's Gaels in Kingston on Sept. 19. The Lady Vees (3-1-0) will take the field at 12 p.m., with the Voyageurs (2-0-1) set to play at 2:15 p.m.
