The Laurentian Voyageurs men's basketball is announcing that Rob McMurray has committed to Laurentian starting the 2009-10 season.
McMurray, a Guelph, Ontario native, joins the Voyageurs and will look to provide an immediate impact with his 6-9 height.
The J.F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute graduate will team up with current Voyageur, and OUA all-star Matas Tirilis (Mississauga, Ont.) to provide Laurentian with height in the paint.
McMurray at centre is looking to learn from coach Shawn Swords and the rest of the veteran Voyageurs and mould himself into a force to be reckoned with in the CIS.
McMurray, 19, has been playing basketball his whole life and is looking forward to coming to the Nickel Capital and playing for the Voyageurs.
"I had a chance to scrimmage with some of the guys from
the team while I was visiting; I found that they were an
incredible group," said McMurray, in a release.

Swords and his coaching staff are looking forward to having a
big presence inside for the next few years.  "Rob is a
great player with a ton of potential, and a really nice young
man, I look forward to coaching him in the years to come," said
Swords.
