McFarland helps Team Canada capture gold

Sudbury Wolves' captain John McFarland led Team Canada to the gold medal on Saturday by scoring twice in a 9-2 thrashing of Russia, in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial World U18 tournament, held in Breclav, Czech Republic.

Sudbury Wolves' captain John McFarland led Team Canada to the gold medal on Saturday by scoring twice in a 9-2 thrashing of Russia, in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial World U18 tournament, held in Breclav, Czech Republic.


Sudbury Wolves import player Stefan Stepanov recorded an assist in the final game and led the Russian team to the silver medal.


McFarland and Stepanov will arrive in Sudbury on Aug. 26 for the Wolves' 2009-2010 training camp.
