Midland curlers wins masters

It was a battle of Canadian curling heavyweights in the final of the 2003 M&M Meat Shops Masters of Curling as the Wayne Middaugh-lead rink from Midland took on the Jeff Stoughton-lead rink from Winnipeg.
It was a battle of Canadian curling heavyweights in the final of the 2003 M&M Meat Shops Masters of Curling as the Wayne Middaugh-lead rink from Midland took on the Jeff Stoughton-lead rink from Winnipeg.

Middaugh and company took the final by a score of 5-2 on Sunday evening at the Garson Arena.

For their efforts, Middaugh and his team claimed the top prize of $30,000.

Stoughton and his team took home $18,000.

The total purse was worth $100,000. The Kevin Martin-lead rink from Edmonton captured third place by defeating the Mark Dacey-lead rink from Halifax 9-7. Martin?s team won $14,000, while Dacey?s crew claimed $10,000.

The event was considered a success. It is the second year in a row, Sudbury has hosted the event
