National Championships silver-lined for Ehrhardt

A trek to the National Junior Track Championships, held in Abbotsford, B.C., turned out to be a silver-lined experience for Caroline Ehrhardt.

Representing Sudbury's Track North Athletic Club, Ehrhardt won two silver medals at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships this past weekend.

The Espanola student - still only 16 and competing against athletes 19 and under - jumped 5.53 metres in the long jump and 12.23 metres in the triple jump.

Other Track North athletes put up a fighting competition in the championships as well.

Ben Charbonneau placed sixth in the javelin with a toss of 56.32 metres. Kyle Beaudry placed 10th in the 400 m hurdles, with a time of 57.58 seconds.

Andre Pelland advanced to the B final in the 400 m, with a time of 50.08 second, placing 12th overall. And Eric Roque advanced to the semi-final in the 100 m with a time of 11.37 seconds, placing 14th overall.
