The reigning champs of the 2008 Telus Cup Midget AAA Sudbury
Nickel Capital Wolves will be holding tryouts beginning this
weekend at Laurentian University.
General Manager of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves Albert
Corradini says this can be a stressful time of the year for
kids and families as the pressure is on for kids to be a part
of a hockey team. With Sudbury claiming the Telus cup last
year, Corradini said he feels that the pressure will be even
higher on a lot of the kids.
"We're really going to try and downplay the pressure that a lot
of these kids, I think, are ultimately going to feel and try to
make them understand that last year we were a good team that
went a long way. But we had ups and downs.
We went through losses. We went through slumps. We went through
injuries. And we're expecting the same thing's going to happen
this year," said Corradini. "We just try to encourage them to
come out, give their best, show us what they got and hopefully
things are going to happen the way they'd like to see them
happen."
Corradini said he expects about 70 kids will try out for the
team. The tryouts are a lengthy process, but are conducted in
such a way that the youngsters have the opportunity to show
what they can do.
Registration will be Sunday, Aug. 17 at Laurentian University
at 5 p.m. on the main track and participants should be prepared
to take part in some fitness testing. On-ice sessions are
scheduled for Aug.18, 19 and 21 at Cambrian Arena. The cost for
all sessions is $75. For more information phone Corradini at
