The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) has announced its involvement in a joint junior hockey initiative tryout process in support of the Team Canada East selection for the World Junior A Challenge taking place in Prince Edward Island this November.

Along with representatives from both the Central Junior Hockey League (CJHL) and the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League (QJAAAHL), 22 players from the NOJHL will travel to Renfrew on Aug. 15 to take part in a single-day talent identification camp.

Squads representing all three leagues will play a single round robin at the Ma Te Way Centre in Renfrew, with Team Ontario East head coach Todd Gill and general manager Marty Abrams on hand.

Admission for the day-long tournament is $10. Fans are welcome to attend. A player or two from each of the three participating teams will be selected to take part with the Canada East team that heads to Summerside (PEI) from Nov. 1-8 for the six team event that includes entries from Sweden, Russia, Belarus and the United States (along with two Canadian entries).

Long-time Abitibi Eskimos’ head coach Paul Gagne will guide the NOJHL crew through their paces in games against the CJHL (1:00) and QJAAAHL (4:15). Following is a complete listing of the NOJHL roster:
