Sudbury Northern Life

The Ontario Coaching Excellence Awards aim to recognize the outstanding achievements and significant contributions coaches have made to both their sport and athletes in Ontario.

The selection of recipients is based on their unique contribution to sport through continuous development. The awards do not reflect the accomplishments of a coach in any one year; rather the award is designed to recognize the contributions a coach has made over a period of years.

There are five categories of awards which refer to the type of athlete the coach is primarily responsible for. In each category both males and female coaches will be recognized.

1. Recreational / Grass Roots Category
2. Developmental Category
3. School Sport Category (selected by OFSAA)
4. High Performance Category
5. New Category: Investor's Group Volunteer Sport Administrator Award. This award is given to an outstanding volunteer who has dedicated their time to developing and supporting coaches in their sport and in their community.

To nominate a Coach for an Ontario Coaching Excellence Award, or to nominate a volunteer for the Investor's Group Sport Administrator Award, please visit www.coachesontario.ca .

To be eligible for an Ontario Coaching Excellence Award, a coach must coach amateur athletes, and have a minimum of two years coaching experience in Ontario. The nominated coach must also consent to the nomination.

All complete nomination forms, and any supporting documents (i.e. letters of reference, news articles, etc.) must be received by Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at 4:00 p.m

The Awards will be presented at an evening reception at the Ontario Coaches Conference on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at the Sheraton Parkway Hotel in Richmond Hill.
