The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Eric O'Dell of the Sudbury Wolves is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 4.

O'Dell scored five goals and three assists for eight points, with a plus-minus rating of plus-seven in four games.

O'Dell opened the scoring 41 seconds into the game Tuesday night leading the Wolves to a 3-1 home win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

O'Dell and the Wolves had a great start to 2009 on Friday night defeating the Peterborough Petes 5-2. O'Dell scored a goal and an assist and was named the second star of the game.

On Saturday night, O'Dell registered his first four-point night of the season scoring two goals and two assists but the Wolves fell to the Niagara IceDogs 6-5 in a shootout.

O'Dell kept the shootout close scoring on his shot and was named the second star of the game. His week ended on Sunday when he scored another quick goal opening the scoring 15 seconds into the game in Mississauga.

O'Dell, an 18-year-old from Ottawa, is in his second season with the Wolves and currently leads the club in scoring with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in 37 games.

His 41 points have him ranked 20th in OHL league scoring. O'Dell was drafted in the second round, 39th overall, at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.
