Ontario Canoe Championships in Sudbury Aug. 22

The Sudbury Canoe Club will host the Ontario Canoe Championships in sprint canoe racing Aug. 22 for midget, juvenile and open men's and women's age categories.

The event will feature one, two and four person sprint canoes and kayaks over 500 metre and 1,000 metre distances, as well as war canoe races.

The Trillium Championships will also be held at the Sudbury Canoe Club on Aug. 23, featuring peewee and bantam sprint canoe racers from across the province of Ontario.

Both of the events will feature a brand new, removable watersports race course on Lake Ramsey that runs along the Jim Gordon boardwalk.

The finish line for all races and awards ceremonies will occur at the Sudbury Canoe Club on Elizabeth street.  Spectators, families and friends are welcome.
