City officials are asking members of the
community to provide suggestions to the Greater Sudbury
Hockeyville Committee as they gather the elements required to
nominate Sudbury for CBC's Kraft Hockeyville television
series.
The television series will showcase the
search for the Canadian community that best embodies the spirit
of hockey and hometown pride. The winning community will host a
live NHL exhibition game between two Canadian NHL teams,
$25,000 in arena upgrades and $10,000 in hockey
equipment.
The Greater Sudbury Hockeyville Committee is
looking for members of the community to provide input that can
be used to answer the mandatory questions for the nomination
process. Found at www.cbchockeyville.ca, these questions
include a creative team name, examples of community spirit,
fairness and fitness activities, and more.
"This contest is a tremendous
opportunity to build community spirit," said Mayor David
Courtemanche in a written statement. "I encourage everyone
to join me in rallying behind this project. The City of Greater
Sudbury is proud to submit a nomination for Kraft Hockeyville,
and we would like your suggestions so we can make our community
stand out in the tough competition."
The Kraft Hockeyville series features seven
one-hour episodes, which premiere March 29 at 8 pm on CBC
(channel 9, cable 8). Each episode will contain stories from
Canadian towns and cities that are vying for the title of Kraft
Hockeyville 2006.
Ideas and suggestions to be used in the
nomination should be sent via e-mail to:
[email protected] . The deadline for submission is
Friday, March 3.
