By September 15, 2009, those operating any size pleasure craft must carry a PCOC or face a fine of $250.

On. Thursday May 7 from 6-9 p.m., a Pleasure Crafter Operator Card course is being held at Parkside OACS located at 140 Durham St. The course is approximately three hours long and includes the Transport Canada accredited exam at the end of the course.

It is designed for both the experienced and novice boater and is for anyone eight years of age and older. A temporary Pleasure Craft Operator Card is issued on site and a permanent card will be sent in the mail.

Anyone who passes the safe boating course will be entered into a contest for the chance to win one of the either a trip for two to Queen Charlotte Lodge in B.C., a day fishing with Bob Izumi or a boat motor & trailer package.
