The OHL exhibition season is in full swing and all teams are
looking for the right mix that will bring them a championship.
Here's a look at recent news involving local players at the
OHL level.
Sault Ste. Marie has released Sudbury-born forward Scott
Restoule. The 18 year old centre was waived through the league
and will now join the Sudbury Junior Wolves. There is an
agreement in place stating Restoule can't suit up for the
Sudbury Wolves.
Restoule is considered a crafty pivot with a knack for making
good plays and has the ability to score goals thanks to a big
shot.
He has, however, failed to put it all together at the OHL
level. In 2005-06, split between Sault Ste. Marie and Sarnia,
the five-foot-eleven, 190-pound forward managed 11 goals and 34
points in 59 games.
In 125 career OHL games, Restoule has 16 goals and 59 points.
Junior Wolves head coach Tom Faganely was thrilled with the
news he landed a potential offensive dynamo.
"He's a good kid and has a lot of skill...he will help us,"
said the bench boss.
Restoule is expected to be in the Junior Wolves line up on
Saturday night, when the squad faces the Abitibi Eskimos.
Local product Zachary McGillis had a tremendous camp with the
Kingston Frontenacs, almost making the team. McGillis was
hoisted by the club at this year's Priority Draft in the
sixth round.
Scouts were impressed with his willingness to engage in
physical contact and he produced points in numerous inter-squad
games. New head coach Bruce Cassidy was surprised by his
efforts.
The 16 year old will now suit for the Valley East Cobras and play in the Great North Midget League. McGillis could even be the team's fourth wild card player by Christmas depending on how he performs with the Cobras.
