Sudbury boxer in medal contention at worlds

Greater Sudbury Northern Life Sudbury boxer Amber Konikow moves into the medal rounds at the Women's World Championships in Ningbo, China today. She defeated American Meredith Giustian 9:2. The win brings Konikow into the semifinals.

Sudbury boxer Amber Konikow moves into the medal rounds at the Women's World Championships in Ningbo, China today.

She defeated American Meredith Giustian 9:2. The win brings Konikow into the semifinals.

She will box China's Zi Jin Li this Friday for the bronze. Konikow said she is in great spirits and is positive about the upcoming match. 

She said that she keeps thinking of all the people who have helped her get to this point at the worlds, as it is gives her more drive to excel.

A win this Friday against China will put her in position for the gold in the final on Saturday against Sweden or Hungary.
