With four games remaining in the Sudbury Canadians' season, the girls have grabbed onto first place in the Ontario Women's Soccer League (OWSL) Central Region northern division.

The team will travel to Bracebridge Wednesday night to battle it out with the second-place Bracebridge Storm. The two teams are currently tied at 19 points, with the Storm having played two additional games.

In addition to holding the top spot, four of the players have made the cut onto the top 10 scorers list.

Serena San Cartier is currently the top goal-scorer in the Central Region Under 21 league with 14 goals, Cloe Lacasse and Karolyne Blain are tied for fourth with five goals each, followed by Danielle Rancourt in fifth with four goals.

Club head coach Frank Malvaso said the team has the potential to add more local names to that list before the season is out.

“We are getting scoring from a number of girls, all of which have the capacity to score,” he said. “We not only have a great defense but are able to put the ball in the net from a number of different sources.”
