The Sudbury Canadians U17 proved to be a handful for a number of Michigan U18 and U17 teams at the Michigan Kingdom Cup, held over the Labour Day weekend in Galesburg, MI. The Sudbury team won all four games and outscored the opposition 28 to 2, according to a press release.

“The girls played extremely well on all parts of the field. Our passing and acceleration skills have improved and the pace of our games was a bit too much for most of the teams we played,” said head coach Frank Malvaso. “We have been able to move the ball around extremely well and our team speed was at an all time high. We were able to get scoring from eight different players and that has improved our team immensely.”

While most soccer teams are winding down their outdoor soccer season, the young Canadians are still very much in the thick of things. The team will see more US NCAA Showcase action in October and November.

“This fall we have been invited to one of the largest NCAA Showcase tournaments with over 300 NCAA schools in attendance,” said Malvaso. “This will likely be one of  the toughest competitions on the continent and we just can’t wait.”
