Sudbury Cyclones take gold at AAA tournament

Six local athletes competed in the novice AAA Southern Ontario East End Showdown Hockey Tournament in Scarborough and Oshawa the past weekend (June 5-7).

Six local athletes competed in the novice AAA Southern Ontario East End Showdown Hockey Tournament in Scarborough and Oshawa the past weekend (June 5-7).

The eight-team tournament included teams from Eastern Canada, Pennsylvania and southern and northern Ontario.

The 2009 Blue Cyclone Club went undefeated throughout the five-game tournament, coming back from a two-goal deficit late in the championship final to win the game 5-4 in a fourth-round overtime shootout.
