Sudbury Five sign forward Jalen Hayes for upcoming 2023-24 season

Five fans may recognize Michigan-born Hayes from his time with KW Titans during their 2023 NLBC season

The Sudbury five have signed Jalen Hayes, a 6'7 forward hailing from Lansing, Michigan, to the roster for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

The Sudbury five have signed Jalen Hayes, a 6'7 forward hailing from Lansing, Michigan, to the roster for the upcoming 2023-24 season.  

Sudbury Five fans may recognize Hayes from the Kitchener Waterloo Titans during the 2023 NBLC season. During his time with the Titans, Hayes showcased his talents by averaging 15.2 points per game (PPG), 5.4 rebounds  per game (RPG), and 1.9 assists per game (APG). 

"Jalen is a player I followed for a long time,” said Logan Stutz, the General Manager and Head Coach of  the Sudbury Five. “He will be a big part of the Five this year. The fans will remember him from KW, but  I'm glad he's with us now." 

Hayes ventured to Canada after a successful stint in Switzerland, where he played for the Monthey  Boars, and three seasons in the United Kingdom, representing the Cheshire Phoenix. Hayes honed his  skills and developed a strong foundation while playing college basketball at Oakland University. In his  senior season with the Golden Grizzlies, he averaged an impressive 18.8 points per game (PPG), 8.1  rebounds per game (RPG), and 2 assists per game (APG). 

Throughout his collegiate career, Hayes received awards and recognition, including NABC All-District First  and Second Team honors in 2017 and 2018, as well as spots on the 2017 and 2018 Horizon All-League  First Teams. Notably, he earned a well-deserved spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2015. 

As the Sudbury Five embark on a new era in the Basketball Super League, Hayes is ready to contribute to the team's success.
