Sudbury swimmers bring home medals

Seven local swimmers brought back medals from the Ontario Summer Games held in Ottawa recently. Representing the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club Jacob Toner brought home a gold medal in both the 1,500 m freestyle and the 200 m butterfly.

Seven local swimmers brought back medals from the Ontario Summer Games held in Ottawa recently.

Representing the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club Jacob Toner brought home a gold medal in both the 1,500 m freestyle and the 200 m butterfly. He obtained a silver in the 100 m butterfly and a bronze in the 400 m freestyle.

Also representing the Laurentian Swim Club, Julie Langlois received a bronze medal in the 50 m freestyle.

From the Valley East Waves Justin Leclair took home five silver medals in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke, the 200 m breaststroke and the 200 m and 400 m individual medley. Leclair also earned a bronze medal in the 100 m breastsroke.

Leclair's teammate Colin Hirschfeld brought home a silver in the 100 m Butterfly and a bronze in the 200 m butterfly.

Members of the Nickel City Aquatics club Carly Staalstra earned a silver medal in the 800 m freestyle, James Clendenning earned a bronze medal in the 100 m butterfly and last but not least Hayden Kosmerly earned two bronze medals in the 200 m and 400 m individual medley.
