The Eurocamp Summer Stars Team won its opening match in the sixth annual One Hockey AAA International Summer Hockey tournament in Philadelphia.

The team beat team Michigan 5-2 after being down 2-1 in late in the second period.

Zac Roy, of North Bay, started the game in net for the Summer Stars, and was relieved by Matty Mayhew, of Wahnapitae, in the second period. The line of Billy Moskal, of Sudbury, Damien Giroux, of Valley East, and Lucas Edmonds, of North Bay, were involved in four out of the five goals.

“We are happy with the effort and the win, considering a 14-hour bus ride from northern Ontario to Philadelphia, arriving at the hotel at 9 p.m. and playing an early 8 a.m. game Wednesday morning,” said head coach Randy Edmonds.

The Eurocamp Summer Stars returned to the ice again Wednesday evening against the New Jersey Titans, and Thursday afternoon against the Central Selects. Check back to NorthernLife.ca for further updates.
