The Sudbury Five Basketball team will kick off their inaugural season in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) on Saturday Nov. 17 in Windsor.

The Five will play a total 40 regular season games. The schedule was released with the entire 200 game NBL Canada schedule this week. Included in the 40 game Five schedule are 20 home games in the Sudbury Arena between Nov. 22 and March 28, 2019 before play-offs, starting on April 1, 2019.

The official Five Home schedule features eight Thursday night and six Saturday night home games this winter as well as three Sundays, two Fridays and one Monday basketball game.

Hoops fans will get their first look at the Five on the floor in Sudbury on Nov. 22 when the London Lightning come to town for a Thursday night tilt.

“We are happy with the inaugural schedule that has been released," said general manager and head coach Logan Stutz.

"With nine home games before New Years Eve and the balance of the home schedule spread over January, February and March, I think this will force our team to quickly gel and demonstrate what we can do early in the season so that the community embraces us with their support."

“This next step in the process of bringing live professional basketball entertainment to our city and here in the north is so gratifying as it puts us that much closer to tip off,” said Dario Zulich, team owner and governor.

“We are redefining how we look at ourselves in the north and are inspired by these athletes who are choosing Sudbury to showcase their skills.”

The Five Franchise has announced the signing of two players, Marcus Lewis and Kadeem Green and is expected to announce several additions in the coming weeks. Stutz is looking to put his stamp on the new franchise, his new position and is engaged in all areas of the community to help promote the team, the league and the game.

Individual game tickets will be released for sale in October and until then the team has season ticket memberships on sale now through the arena box office at www.greatersudbury.ca/tickets or the team’s website at the www.thefive.ca.
