Track North's Ehrhardt crowned Canadian junior champion

Track North's Caroline Ehrhardt, of Espanola, won gold in the women's triple jump event at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships held this past weekend in Charlottetown, PEI. The 17-year-old set a new personal best of 12.

Caroline Ehrhardt will be competing in her specialty — the triple jump — starting with the qualification round at 5:40 p.m. (Sudtirol time) on Wednesday.

Track North's Caroline Ehrhardt, of Espanola, won gold in the women's triple jump event at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships held this past weekend in Charlottetown, PEI.

The 17-year-old set a new personal best of 12.81 metres to claim the gold against competitors aged 19 and under.

She also earned a silver medal in the women’s long jump competition with a performance of 5.98 metres.

Other Track North results from the championships included:

Chantry Cargill, of Sudbury, placed 9th in the men’s 5000 metre race with a time of 15:49:82.

Eric Roque, of Sudbury, placed 12th in the men's 100 metre. Roque set a new personal best of 10.90 in his heat and ran 11.03 in his semi-final.

Ross Proudfoot, of Sudbury, placed 12th in the men’s 1500 metre final with a time of 4:03.99. The 17-year-old ran 4:00.70 in his heat to qualify for the final.

Emma Tallman, of Mindemoya, placed 16th in the women’s 800m with time of 2:17.66 in her semi-final and 2:18.03 in the "B" final.

Upcoming competitions for Track North athletes include the provincial championships for youth aged 17 and under. It will be held in Timmins July 25th and 26th and the national youth campionships being held in Sherbrooke August 8th and 9th.
