The GymZone Family Fitness Centre, Home of the Sudbury Laurels will be hosting the 2008 Tumbling Provincial Qualifier on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 at the Ben Avery Gymnasium, Laurentian University.

This competition features Ontario's best tumblers as they compete and try to qualify for the 2008 Provincial and National Championships.

Admission to the competition is $7 for adults and $3 for children, Laurentian University students and seniors.

Provincial champion and local athlete Sylvain Bastien is just one of several high profile power tumblers competing at Laurentian University this weekend. Highlighting the weekend action is the fact seven time Canadian National Champion in  Power Tumbling, Denis Vachon, will be competing for the last time.  Vachon has decided to retire as a gymnast and focus his efforts and knowledge on coaching.  Vachon spent  much of his training under GymZone/Sudbury Laurels with director/head coach Lisa Kivinen.

In addition, Provincial Champion Sylvain Bastien and two time National Champion Jason Pelletier will be competing.  Other Sudbury Laurels athletes that will be competing are Laurence Marchand-Potvin, Alicia Violin, Megan Howard, Tatum Hurley and Philip Miller.

Fans interested in seeing Vachon, Pelletier and Bastien can check them out on Saturday between 1 and 3:30 pm.

GymZone Family Fitness Centre is the Home of the Sudbury Laurels Gymnastics Club, the competitive arm of the gymnastics club.  The Club is now located in New Sudbury, the Valley and Espanola.
