The Laurentian University basketball squads had a perfect weekend. The men and women each won a pair of games in the Golden Horseshoe.

On Friday, the men smashed the Ryerson Rams 80-59.

Ben Palmer lead the charge for the Voyageurs with 18 points and eight rebounds. Andy Greig knocked down 16 points in the win.

The men then played the University of Toronto on Saturday, and walked away with an impressive come-from-behind 63-62 win.

Despite being down 18 points at halftime, the Voyageurs rallied in the second half to take the victory.

Greig was the top point-getter, with 14.

Â"I thought we showed a lot of resolve in our come back,Â" said head coach Virgil Hill.

The wins were crucial to the men as they had lost five of their first six games. With the two victories, the Voyageurs' record now stands at 3-5.

On Friday, the Lady Vees dumped Ryerson 69-60.

The team rode a second-half surge, which saw them outscore Ryerson 42-31, to claim the win.

Cassandra Carpenter lead the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds - her seventh double-double in eight games. She's averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Tierney Hoo also hit double figures, scoring 17 points.

On Saturday, the women dismantled Toronto 79-70.

The Lady Vees overcame a one-point, first-half deficit, and cruised to the win by scoring 49 points in the second half.

Carpenter was the top scorer again, collecting 25 points.

Â"We played with a lot of heart and emotion in the second half,Â" said head coach Mike Clarke. Â"We got the tempo up and played our style of game.Â"
