Villeneuve's tops Toppers in girl's softball action

In midget girls softball action at Twin Forks ball field Thursday night, Villeneuve's edged out Toppers 13-10.

Cloey Ilnitski took the win on the mound for Villeneuve's, striking out five batters. She also led the way at the plate, going three for four with one double and two runs batted in.

Leah Helmes was tagged with the loss for Toppers after relieving starting pitcher Maxine Mayottte. Chanelle Doyon-Frappier led the team at the plate in a losing cause, going three for three with one double.

League action resumes on Monday at ball fields across the city.
