The Laurentian Voyageurs fell 3-0 to the Toronto Varsity Blues in Toronto on Saturday.

Geoffrey Borgman, Alexander Raphael and Seung Bok Lee tallied for the Varsity Blues. Scott Cliff got the start between the pipes for Laurentian, but was red carded in the 60th minute.

The Voyageurs controlled the pace of the game in the first half but were unable to capitalize on scoring chances.

The Varsity Blues swayed momentum to their side in the dying minutes of the half, when Borgman (Dixie, Ont.) netted the eventual game winner in first half injury time for the Toronto men.

The second half was back and forth in the early going with Laurentian having more chances to equalize the score.

Two incidental hand balls in Toronto's 18-yard box proved to be costly for the Voyageurs, as Toronto weathered the storm and mounted many counter attacks.

In the 60th minute Cliff (Sudbury, Ont.) was red carded after making what was considered an aggressive save. Andre Gomes (Woodbridge, Ont.) entered the game in Cliff's place.

The card proved fatal for the Laurentian squad, with the team deflated and down to 10 men, U of T netted two goals in the game's final 10 minutes. Raphael (Toronto) and Lee (Toronto) scored for the Varsity Blues.

"I felt when we were 11-on-11 we deserved at least a point in this game," said Voyageurs head coach Carlo Castrechino in a release.

The Laurentian Voyageurs dropped their second straight game by a score of 3-0, this time to the Ryerson Rams at Lamport Stadium in Toronto, on Sunday.

Robert Galati scored early for Ryerson and Vincenzo D'elia netted two in the second half as Ryerson earned three points. Andre Gomes was in net for the Voyageurs.

Ryerson got off to a quick start as Galati (Toronto) scored just three minutes into the game. The Voyageurs were able to battle back and create chances. Through a steady downpour of rain the Laurentian men continued press but could not find the back of the net, entering the break down 1-0 to the host Rams.

The second half saw the Rams build momentum and take control of the game. D'elia (Vaughn, Ont.) netted his first just 10 minutes into the second frame.

He scored again in the 87th minute ending all hopes of a Voyageur comeback. Gomes (Woodbridge, Ont.) made 2 saves for Laurentian in his first start this season.

Carlo Castrechino, the Voyageurs head coach was pleased with his team's first half effort but said, "We have to play 90 minutes if we're going to be successful and we didn't today," in release.

The Voyageurs must put this tough weekend behind them as they get set to host a pair. The RMC Paladins will visit Laurentian on Saturday September 13th, and the Queen's Golden Gales will do battle with the Voyageurs on Sunday September 14. Both games will start at 12 p.m. on the Laurentian Soccer Field.
