The Laurentian Voyageurs continue their home-cooking ways this weekend, when they host the Windsor Lancers and Western Mustangs.

The winless Voyageurs are hungry to take a bite out of two out-of-conference opponents, who roll into the Ben Avery Gymnasium coming off wins. The 3-1 Windsor Lancers defeated the Ryerson Rams 74-67, while the 2-2 Western Mustangs squeezed by Toronto 76-72.

On Friday, Nov. 21, the Voyageurs will look to pounce on the streaking Lancers, who have won two consecutive games.

Windsor is led by fifth year forward, Greg Surmacz (Peterborough, Ont.) who averages 20.75 points per game, along with 10.0 rebounds per game. Surmacz is supported by two third years, Monty Hardware (Toronto, Ont.) and Isaac Kuon (Mississauga, Ont.), who both average 14.50 points per game.

Kuon and Hardware, both strong shooters average 90.91 per cent and 84.62 per cent from the charity stripe, while firing at 50.0 per cent and 47.83 per cent rates from behind the arch.

Last season's encounter between these two foes was a night to forget for the Voyageurs, falling 93-45. Windsor is currently owns the fourth best field goal percentage in the OUA.

"They are the number three team in the nation for a reason. Surmacz is a strong player that needs to be controlled. The three point shooters that surround him make it very difficult to defend against this team. They play hard for a full 40 minutes. We need to control the tempo, Surmacz, and the rebounds, then we will have a solid performance," said Voyageur head coach Shawn Swords in a release.

On Saturday, Nov. 22 the Voyageurs will look to tame the Western Mustangs, who split a weekend set in Toronto last week, beating Toronto and falling to Ryerson.

Western is led by fifth year forward, Bradley Smith (Churchill, Ont.) and by forward, Keenan Jeppesen (Stoney Creek, Ont.).

Smith averages 18.25 points per game, 5.75 rebounds per game, and is tallying at a 64.29 per cent rate from behind the three-point line. Jeppesen is chipping in with 13.5 points per game, 4.50 rebounds per game, while also dishing 2.0 assists per game on average. Western shares the ball, as they are currently ranked fifth in the OUA in assists per game.

"They are a very good team, shown by their upset over Ottawa. They are very big, making it a challenge for us to battle for rebounds. They will be hungry to seek revenge over last year's loss," added Swords in the release.

The Laurentian Voyageurs are led by fourth year forward Matas Tirilis (Mississauga, Ont.) and guard Paul Kovacs (Barrie, Ont.). Tirilis is averaging a team leading 18.4 points per game and 8.20 rebounds per game.

He is also tallying at a stifling 85.7 per cent from the free throw line, good for ninth in the OUA. Kovacs adds 11.0 points per game, while also mustering 1.6 steals per encounter.

The Voyageurs have a great opportunity to create some momentum before they play eight of their next ten games on the road, including a long trek to Lakehead University next weekend.

The Voyageurs are scheduled to tip off on both evenings at 8 p.m.
