The Laurentian Voyageurs men's soccer team played a pair of pre-season games this past weekend. On Saturday, they were victorious 2-0 over the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines, while Sunday, they fell 2-0 to the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.

In Saturday's game, the Voyageurs controlled the play early on, scoring both goals in the first half, as Brent Huffles of Sudbury, and sophomore Davor Alisic of Charlottetown each found the back of the net. Reigning OUA east MVP Scott Cliff of Sudbury was in net, posting the shut-out.

“It was a good all around team performance, both vets and rookies contributed,” said head coach Carlo Castrechino.

On Sunday, against the Marauders, the Voyageurs came out slow, and were never able to recover, a press release stated. McMaster scored a goal in each half, and Laurentian was held off the scoreboard.

“This game exposed some flaws that will need to be corrected before we start the season,” said Castrechino. “We are going to have a tough week of practice to get ready for Carleton on Saturday.”

The Voyageurs will fine-tune and get ready to open the season at home against the defending OUA east champions on Sept. 5 at 2:15 p.m. The game will take place on the Laurentian soccer field.
