The Sudbury Wolves have announced the winners of the Players of
the Month Awards for November, which will be presented tonight
(Friday) before the opening faceoff as the Wolves host the
Sarnia Sting at 730 at the Sudbury Arena.
Jon D'Aversa is the winner of the Fiorino's of the Port Award as top player. The veteran defenceman will receive an Arnold Brant suit tonight by John Fiorino.
D'Aversa scored four goals and added nine assists for 13
points in 11 games during the month of November. The four-year
veteran is second in team scoring and has moved into
second-place overall among OHL defencemen scoring. D'Aversa
also leads his team in the plus-minus category with a +9
rating.
 
Nick Foligno is the winner of the Molson Canadian 3-Star Award.
The third-year centre garnered the most three-star selections
during the month and continues to lead his team in scoring with
40 points. Foligno will receive his Molson Canadian award
tonight from Molson regional manager Clayton Bertrand.
 
The Campbell's Scholastic Award winner for November is
rookie forward  J.K. Gill.  Gill, a third round
selection by the Wolves in this summer's OHL Entry Draft, will
receive his award from Bill Nurmi Jr. of Campbell's at
tonight's game. Gill has surpassed the class average in all
three university-level courses he is enrolled in at Lasalle
Secondary School.
The Travelodge Hotel Community Service Award goes to veteran centre Kevin Baker. Baker made several visits to local elementary schools in November and communicated the importance of education and goal-setting to hundreds of students.
Baker will receive his award from Travelodge Hotel manager Carla Lacelle on Friday, Dec. 15 when Travelodge sponsors the Tannual Teddy Bear Toss when the Wolves host Brampton.
