The Sudbury Wolves were back on their home ice on Saturday, hoping to continue their success after a 10-3 victory against Sarnia the night before, facing off against the Oshawa Generals.

For the second game in a row, the Wolves put Marcus Vandenberg in net, while the Generals went with Beckett Sennecke in goal.

The Wolves scored the first goal of the game just 3:51 into the first period with Dalibor Dvorsky’s 34th goal of the season, getting the Wolves off to an early 1-0 lead.

The game was quiet up until 4:41 remaining in the opening period when Connor Lockhart scored his 22nd goal for the Generals to tie the game 1-1.

Andre Anania would score his seventh goal of the season with 13 seconds left in the first period and after the first 20 minutes of play the Sudbury Wolves held a 2-1 lead over the Oshawa Generals.

The next goal came at 11:46 into the second period when Calum Ritchie scored his 23rd goal of the season to once again the tie game for Oshawa, with the score being 2-2 with one period left to play.

An Oshawa player was tripped on the breakaway less than two minutes into the third period, and on the ensuing penalty shot Oshawa scored to take a 3-2 lead.

With 11:02 remaining in the third, Calum Ritchie scored his second goal of the game to give the Generals some insurance and a 4-2 lead.

Just over halfway through the period, the Generals increased their lead thanks to a goal from Tyler Graham, his sixth of the season, and the score was now 5-2 for Oshawa.

Oshawa would score an empty net goal with 48 seconds left in the game, scored by Dylan Roobroeck, his 18th of the season, to seal a 6-2 win for the Oshawa Generals over the Sudbury Wolves.

After the loss, the Sudbury Wolves now hold a record of 34 wins, 19 losses, three overtime losses, and three shootout losses with nine games remaining in the regular season, which is good for first place in the Central Division, second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Brantford Bulldogs, and sixth place in the Ontario Hockey League, also behind the Brantford Bulldogs.

The Sudbury Wolves next take the ice on Wednesday, March 6, for a home game against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
