Three new players signed on with the Sudbury Wolves at a press conference held Friday afternoon. The club's first three draft selections from the 2009 OHL Priority Selection Draft — Justin Sefton, Frankie Corrado and Kristoff Kontos — have all agreed to terms and  signed OHL contracts with the team for the 2009-10 season.

Sefton played his last season with the Notre Dame Hounds in Saskatchewan, and was selected fifth overall. He is a 6-2, 195 lbs right defenceman and shoots right.

Corrado played his last season with the Vaughn Kings, and was selected 25th overall. He is a 5-11, 175 lbs left defenceman and shoots right.

Kontos played his last season with the North Central Predators and was selected 28th overall. He is a 6-0, 185 lbs centre and shoots left.

“We are confident that all three of these players have what it takes to play in the NHL,” said Mike Foligno, Wolves' head coach and general manager.

“Each player brings his own skill set but the one common denominator is the leadership quality that each of these players brings to our team,” he continued. “All three are focused on becoming the very best player that they can be and doing whatever it takes to help their team win each every night.

“As a coach, you can't ask for anything more. These are the type of character players that we need to help lead the Sudbury Wolves back to the top of the league.”

“The Sudbury Wolves area  first-class operation and they have treated me extremely well since the day that I was drafted,” said Corrado. “I couldn't be happier playing for the Sudbury Wolves and I can hardly wait to get started.”

“My father played here in the 80s and now it's my turn,” said Kontos. “My goal is to lead this team to a championship and play in the NHL some day. I know that the coaching staff here in Sudbury will help me achieve my goals.”

“Sudbury has a great tradition and a great history with players from Thunder bay,” said Sefton, who's hometown is Thunder Bay. “I am very proud to be a part of the Sudbury Wolves organization

All three of the players will be attending Lasalle Secondary School next year.

The team will take to the ice Aug. 26 for the main training camp, at the Sudbury Arena. A total of 45 players are expected to be invited to the camp, with the hope of securing one of the 20 positions on the team.
