Ben West got the start in goal for Barrie while Jakub Vondras was between the pipes for the Wolves.

Sudbury carried the play for the majority of the first period, peppering West with 20 shots in the period, but didn’t get on the scoreboard until 1:02 to go in the period with a goal from Andre Anania, his fifth of the season, to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

Under a minute later, Landon McCallum scored his 15th goal of the season to give Sudbury a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

At the 3:22 mark of the second period Dalibor Dvorsky scored his 22nd goal of the season for the Wolves to increase Sudbury’s lead to 3-0.

With 11:19 remaining in the middle frame Sudbury would strike again with Dvorsky’s second goal of the game to give the Wolves a commanding 4-0 lead.

Twenty-three seconds later, Shamar Moses finally got Barrie on the scoreboard with their first shot of the second period and his fourth goal of the season to make the score 4-1 for the Wolves.

Just 10 seconds later Jack Brauti scored his fourth goal of the season, pulling the Colts within two, with Sudbury leading by a score of 4-2.

13:32 into the middle frame Evan Konyen scored his 19th goal of the season to restore Sudbury’s three-goal lead, and Sudbury lead 5-2 over Barrie with one period left to play.

Not much happened in the third period until 9:43 remaining in the game when Tai York of the Colts scored his 11th goal of the season to make the score 5-3 for the Wolves.

With 1:48 remaining in the game Kocha Delic would seal the victory for the Wolves with his 14th goal of the season and give the Sudbury Wolves a 6-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Sudbury Wolves hold a record of 23 wins, 14 losses, three overtime losses, and two shootout losses, which is good for first place in the Central Division and second place in the Eastern Conference of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Sudbury Wolves face the North Bay Battalion in back to back games, first on Thursday, January 25 at the Memorial Gardens with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m. followed by a rematch against the Battalion in Sudbury on Friday, January 26, with a scheduled start time of 7:05 p.m.
