After an undefeated pre-season trip to Europe, the Sudbury Wolves took to the ice in front of the home town fans for the first time Sept. 7, losing 6-3 to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in OHL exhibition action.

The visitors got on the board first, scoring two quick goals against Wolves' back-up goalie Michael Swick. The first goal was scored by Soo captain Cody Thornton on the powerplay. Anthony Perdicaro scored the Greyhounds' second goal.

Thornton (three goals) and Perdicaro (one goal and two assists) led the offensive charge for the Greyhounds all night.

Defenceman Nick Tuzzolino responded for the Wolves with a powerplay goal assisted by Kevin Baker and Matt Dias.

In the second period, the Greyhounds added three more goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Swick was pulled from the Wolves net mid-way through the frame for number one goalie Kevin Beech.

The Wolves came out stronger in the third period and made it a 5-3 game with goals from Akim Aliu and Geoff Guimond. However, Josh Moes put the game out of reach for the Wolves when he scored to make it 6-3.

The Wolves will look for revenge in another exhibition game against the Greyhounds Friday Sept. 15 at 7:30 pm at the Sudbury Community Arena. Tickets are $10 for all ages.
