The Sudbury Wolves took to the ice Friday night in their "Retro" jerseys to face the Brampton Battalion. Despite leading for most of the game, the Wolves would settle for a shootout loss with a final score of 3-2.

The Sudbury Wolves jumped out to the early 1-0 lead on a power play goal by captain Gerome Giudice at the 18:17 minute mark with assists by Matt Dias and John Kurtz.

The pack extended their lead to 2-0 early in the second period on another goal by Giudice, who was assisted by Kurtz. The Battalion would cut the lead to 1 with a power play marker by Matt Duchene before the end of the period.

The Wolves tried to hold onto to the lead in the third period, however, the Battalion tied up the contest at the 15:58 mark to send the teams to overtime. The Battalion goal was scored by Cody Hodgson.

The overtime period solved nothing, so the teams went on to the shootout.

The first two shooters for the Battalion were Matt Duchene and Cody Hodgson, and both made good on their shots. Up for the Wolves were Peter Hermenegildo and John McFarland, who were not able to convert their shots into goals.

Sudbury Wolves netminder Andrew Loverock had another strong performance in goal turning away 34 shots, while Battalion goaltender Patrick Killeen made 21 saves for the win.

The Molson Three Stars were: 1st Star: Gerome Giudice, 2nd Star: Cody Hodgson, and 3rd Star: John Kurtz.

The Wolves will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 22 when they will travel to Windsor to take on the Spitfires. This game will be the featured game on Rogers Sportsnet. Game time is 7 p.m.
