Wolves losing streak now at six games

It was a weekend to forget for the Sudbury Wolves. Entering the weekend, Sudbury held onto fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but it all came undone thanks to three straight losses.

It was a weekend to forget for the Sudbury Wolves. Entering the weekend, Sudbury held onto fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, but it all came undone thanks to three straight losses.

Sudbury lost two spots in the standings, dropping to sixth overall in the conference. They now have a record of 28-29-3-6, good for 65 points.

Overall, the Wolves are winless in six games, going 0-4-1-1.

On Friday night, Sudbury closed out its regular season home schedule by losing 4-1 to Brampton.

It was an uninspiring effort by the Wolves as they mustered up just 25 shots. Brampton goalie Bryan Pitton made a few great saves from in close to keep Sudbury shooters frustrated.

Nick Foligno scored the lone goal for Sudbury. Goalie Sebastian Dahm made 21 saves.

Matt Smyth, John Hughes, Graham McNabb and Kevin Christmas scored for the Battalion.

On Saturday, Sudbury hit the road and lost 4-2 to Belleville.

Jonathan D'Aversa and Patrik Lusnak potted goals for the Wolves. Dahm made 32 saves in facing 35 shots.

Tyler Donati, Bryan Cameron, Michael Neal and Shawn Matthias, into an empty net, scored for the Bulls.

Belleville goalie Kevin Lalonde made 33 saves.

The Wolves ended their miserable weekend by losing to lowly Toronto St. Michael's Majors 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sudbury ran into a hot goalie as Toronto back up Chris Carrozzi made 45 saves in the win.

Foligno, with his 30th, scored for Sudbury. Dahm made 28 saves.

Toronto was lead by Kaspars Daugavins with two goals. Darrell Simich and Matt McCready also scored for Toronto.

Both Oshawa and Kingston passed Sudbury in the standings. Oshawa is now fourth, while Kingston is fifth.

Sudbury rounds out their 2006-07 season with two road games this upcoming weekend against Kingston on Friday and Ottawa on Sunday.

The playoffs will begin next week.
