The Sudbury Wolves will be put to the test
this weekend as they play three games in three nights,
including two key divisional contests.
On Friday, at the Sudbury Arena, the Wolves
square off with one of their biggest rivals, the Barrie Colts.
Game time is 7:30 pm.
It will mark the battle for third place in
the Central Division. The Wolves own third spot, as of Thursday
morning, with a record of 22-18-3-4, good for 51 points.
The Colts are nipping the heels of the Wolves
with a record of 21-16-6-2, good for 50 points.
Barrie plays tonight against Owen
Sound.
The Colts hold the lead in the season series
between the two clubs so far, with two wins.
The Wolves beat the Colts in their only
appearance at the Sudbury Arena so far this season, back on
Nov. 19, 2004, 4-2.
Sudbury comes into the game with a 5-5 record
in their last 10 games. The team is riding high after defeating
the second best ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League
(CHL), the Owen Sound Attack last Sunday, 3-2.
Friday's game should propel the
Wolves' attendance mark over 100,000 fans for the season.
It is the first time in the Wolves' history that mark has
been reached in January.
The Wolves are averaging 4,139 fans per game
- the highest average attendance in Wolves' history.
The Wolves currently have the fourth-highest
attendance in the OHL behind London, Ottawa and Kitchener - who
have larger seating capacities in their arenas.

Rafal Martynowski will play in his 100th game
in a Wolves' uniform on Friday against Barrie.
In his 99 games with the Wolves so far,
Martynowski has racked up 44 goals and 97 points.
Bobby Chaumont will appear in his 252nd
straight game (all with the Wolves) against Barrie. It will
leave him only 12 games back from the OHL record of 264
straight games set by Willie Skilliter.
The Wolves also have a chance to set two new
team records against Barrie.
Their current longest home winning streak
against the Colts is two, and their current unbeaten streak at
home against the Colts is four games. They can break both of
those marks on Friday.
The Wolves then pack up their gear and hit
the road for a game against the Mississauga IceDogs on
Saturday.
Then they travel to Oshawa on Sunday
afternoon for a tilt against the Generals.
