Despite being without star players Ben
Pouliot and Marc Staal, the Sudbury Wolves showed their heart
by going 1-1 over the weekend in two road games.
Last Friday, the Wolves were defeated 6-5 by
London in a tough match.
The Knights blasted their way to a 4-1 lead
by the 30 second mark of the second period before Sudbury
romped back with four straight goals in the period to take a
5-4 lead into the third frame.
London scored twice in the final period to
take a 6-5 victory.
Wolves back up goalie Chris Abbey was
sensational, making 44 saves in the loss.
Matt Dias (two goals and one assist), and
Nick Foligno (one goal and two assists), led the offensive
charge for Sudbury with three points each.
Jonathan D'Aversa and Brett Parnham
scored the other goals for the Wolves.
On Sunday afternoon, The Wolves scored four
power play goals en route to a 6-3 win over the Brampton
Battalion.
Devin DiDiomete, Foligno and Dias all scored
one goal and one assist each to help propel the Wolves to
victory.
Kevin Baker, Jeff Christison and Keaton
Turkiewicz also scored for Sudbury. Turkiewicz's tally was
the game winner.
Goalie Kevin Beech thwarted 27 of 30 shots
for his 17th victory of the season.
The Wolves still remain in fourth spot in the
Central Division with a record of 17-14-1-1, good for 36
points.
The Wolves are one point behind Brampton for
third place and 11 points behind division-leading Barrie.
In the Eastern Conference, Sudbury sits in
sixth spot overall.
The Wolves are now off for the Holidays.
Their next game is Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Sudbury Arena when
the Wolves renew their Northern Ontario rivalry with the Sault
Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Game time is 7:30 pm.
