The Burgess Family and the Sudbury Wolves organization announced Mike Foligno has agreed to terms on a new multi-year agreement as head coach and general manager of the franchise.

Foligno recently completed his four-year contract with the Sudbury Wolves after leading the Wolves to their first Eastern Conference Championship and a berth in the OHL Final for the first time in 31 years.  Foligno was approached by NHL teams during the off-season but after exploring those opportunities, he decided to remain in Sudbury with the Wolves.

"Having the opportunity to be the coach and general manager of the Sudbury Wolves remains my number one priority at this point in my career," said Foligno in a news release.  "I am pleased that the ownership group is willing to give me another opportunity to lead this team."

The Wolves organization more than welcomed back the coach and former playing star.

"We are thrilled to have Mike Foligno remain on as coach and general manager," said president Mark Burgess.  "Mike has been our most successful coach since my family purchased the team 21 years ago and he is continues to be an outstanding role-model for our players and our community."

Foligno's return has young prospects jumping for joy.

"I am really looking forward to playing for coach Foligno," said 2007 first-round selection Daniel Maggio.  "He is a tough coach that demands a lot from his players and I really like that.".   "Coach Foligno did a great job developing Marc Staal, Jon D'Aversa and Adam McQuaid and I look forward to benefiting from his coaching as much as they did."

Foligno is ready for the 2007-08 season to start.

"Sudbury has a lot to be excited about this season," said Foligno. "The renovations to the arena will give the arena a refreshing new look and we look forward to enhancing the fans' experience at our games this season. We have a great crop of returning veterans that gained a great deal of experience from last year's play-off run.   In addition, our young players will also benefit from knowing what it takes to win in the play-offs and they will have the opportunity to lead the Wolves as we build towards another championship run."

One of Foligno's first priorities will be to find a replacement for assistant coach Bob Jones who left the club in June to join the Windsor Spitfires.  Foligno will be looking to sign a number of drafted players in the coming weeks in addition to visiting players and insuring that all players coming to camp are dedicated to earning a spot with the Wolves' organization.
