Sudbury Wolves forward Nick DeGrazia netted his 10th and 11th goals of the season, leading the Pack to a 6-5 win over the Barrie Colts.

The Sudbury Wolves fended off a late surge by the Barrie Colts to finish January with a 6-5 on home ice.

Quentin Musty opened the scoring about halfway through the first to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead.

Things would stay scoreless for the rest of the first, until less than a minute into the second period, Barrie managed to tie it up with a goal from Anthony Tabak.

The Pack would retake the lead about 10 minutes later when Musty fed a pass to Dylan Robinson who didn’t miss the mark and gave Sudbury a 2-1 lead.

That would do it for scoring in the second period, leading to a high-action third.

Three minutes into the final frame, Nick DeGrazia would notch one to make it a 3-1 Wolves hockey game. Five minutes later Ethan Larmand made his ninth marker of the season to put the pack ahead 4-1.

Three minutes later, Nick DeGrazia and Dominik Jendek would score within 20 seconds of each other and the Wolves seemed to be sailing to an easy victory.

Never count Barrie out is the lesson here.

The Colts would go on a tear in the second half of the third period, scoring four goals in four minutes and pulling to within one goal of tying the game. Roenick Jodoin scored at the 14-minute mark, followed two minutes later by a goal from Hunter Haight. A minute later Tabak would score his second of the game for Barrie to make it a 6-4 hockey game.

With just over a minute left to play, Nathan Allensen would score again to pull the Colts to within one, but the clock would run out before Barrie could score again, ending the game 6-5 for Sudbury.

The Pack is now eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 13-22-3-1. Overall, the Pack sits in 17th place.

The Wolves are back in action on home ice this Friday, Feb. 4, when they host the Kingston Frontenacs.
