Wolves trade Thompson for draft pick

The Sudbury Wolves have announced that they have sent 17-year-old forward Brett Thompson to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for a fourth round draft selection in the 2010 OHL Entry Draft.

Thompson, a 5-8, 160 pound centreman, is a native of Sault Ste. Marie and was drafted by the Wolves in the fourth round of the 2006 OHL draft. Thompson has recorded five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 39 games this season.

The Wolves' player roster now includes 13 forwards, seven defencemen and two goaltenders for a total of 22 players.

The revised Wolves team hosts the Mississauga Majors tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Newly acquired forwards Kain Allicock (from Saginaw) and Akim Aliu (from London) will make their home-ice debut in a Wolves' uniform tonight.

The Wolves will also pay tribute to U-17 gold-medalist John McFarland prior to the start of tonight's game.
