The Sudbury Wolves have announced that 19-year-old forward Marco Maggio has been released by the hockey club.

Maggio met with Wolves' GM & Head Coach Mike Foligno on Thursday afternoon and discussed his status with the team.

Maggio was very understanding of his situation with the team and the need to provide other players with more icetime.

Maggio will return to Windsor to continue his university education. He is very thankful of the opportunity to play for the Sudbury Wolves and will enjoy fond memories of his time here in Sudbury.

The Sudbury Wolves organization is very appreciative of the way Marco contributed to the hockey club both on and office the ice.

Maggio was a significant physical presence on the ice and a very respectful and caring person off the ice. The Sudbury Wolves wish Maggio the best of luck in his future and thank him for his contribution to the Sudbury Wolves.

The Wolves also announced that 18-year-old forward Zack McGillis has been assigned to the Kal Tire Junior Wolves on a two-way agreement.

McGillis will join the Junior Wolves this weekend but will also practice and remain with the OHL Wolves on a call-up basis.

McGillis was acquired earlier this summer in a trade with the Kingston Frontenacs. The Wolves' roster is now trimmed to 22 players.
