The pack's efforts did pay off with a 3-1 victory over the Soo Greyhounds, which tied up the Challenge Cup series at one win each.

The Wolves came out strong in the first period setting the tone early with a power play goal at the 1:25 mark by John Kurtz, with assists from Eric O'Dell and Matt Dias.

The Wolves then opened their lead to 3-0 on two goals by captain Gerome Giudice, who was assisted on both goals by rookies John McFarland and Jake Cardwell.

The Greyhounds did get on the board mid-way through the second period with a shorthanded goal by Matthew Lyall, but that's the last time the Greyhounds would see the back of the net on Wolves netminder Alain Valiquette.

Valiquette had a strong outing with 25 saves. In the final seconds of the game, however, Valiquette was shaken up in a scrum in front of the net and was unable to continue. He was replaced by Andrew Loverock, who did not face any shots.

The games three stars were Gerome Giudice, Jake Cardwell, Alain Valiquette. The Wolves return to the Sudbury Community Arena this weekend to take on the Brampton Battalion Friday night and the Ottawa 67s Saturday night.
