Wyedale Tribe takes title at local international qualifying tournament

The International Softball Congress (ISC) II Qualifier was held Aug. 28-30 in Sudbury at the Terry Fox Sports Complex, with four local men's fastball teams vying for a berth in the ISC II Tournament of Champions, to be held next year in Midland, Michigan.

Hosting the tournament was a first for northern Ontario. THe tournament included teams like the Wyedale Tribe, the Sudbury North Stars, the Whitefish Extreme and the River Dawgs.

After going undefeated through the tournament, the Wyedale Tribe took the championship title over the North Stars, 4-2.

Jason Giffen, the Tribe's pitcher, was named the top pitcher in the tournament, as well as tournament MVP, with 39 strike-outs and allowing only 11 hits in three games.
