Police often find themselves under the microscope, not always for the best of reasons, but one officer with Greater Sudbury Police Service earned himself a few hundred Facebook likes this past weekend, thanks to a Chelmsford mother.

Celine Tellier posted her story to Facebook on the weekend, and the GSPS subsequently shared it on their Facebook page.

Sudbury.com reached out to the police service for the officer's name, hoping to get a photo of him, but the officer in the story, Officer Ed, wishes to stay out of the limelight.

Hats off to you, Officer Ed, for the work you do protecting our community!

Here's what Tellier had to say:

"With all the negativity lately about our police forces, I felt the need to share a little positivity this morning.

"On Friday, my son Matt Tellier was out biking when he got a flat tire. One of our city's finest spotted him struggling with his bike, asked if he was ok and offered his assistance.

"Not only did he put Matt's bike in the back of the cruiser, but he took him for a DQ cone before driving him safely home. (No doubt with a bazillion questions from a 10-year-old boy, sitting in the front seat of a cruiser, about everything in between!)

So this morning's Sunday Shout Out goes out to Officer Ed of the GSPS. If anyone knows him, please feel free to share or tag him on this. This mama thanks him for his service to our community." #ThankYou"
