The police service said the confirmation came from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto. The human remains were found at the scene of a vehicle fire on Price Road in the Northern Ontario city on April 20.

Based upon comprehensive post-mortem examinations which have taken place in Toronto, police said the identities of the deceased persons have been confirmed to be that of:

  • Brandi Gagnon, 14 of Timmins

The human remains of a fourth person found a short distance from the vehicle are confirmed to be those of Joey Gagnon, 37, of Timmins.

The identities of the human remains were disclosed to surviving members of the Gagnon family before the results were made public, police said.
