Everybody needs a rest, but the holiday break may have come at the wrong time for the Sudbury Wolves. Yes, the Wolves have been going non-stop since their trip to Russia in mid-August to take part in the Junior World Cup.

I recently marked my 10-year anniversary as the play-by play voice of the Sudbury Wolves and I found myself looking back over the past decade.

The return of North Bay to the OHL is good news on a lot of fronts. It’s good news for the Gateway City, good news for the fans there and good news for the league. But I think, most of all, it’s good news for the Sudbury Wolves.

Tomorrow night, the Sudbury Wolves play their 17th game, marking the quarter point of the season. They go into that game with a record of 7-8-0-1, good for 15 points, and one point below the .500 mark.

If you were to put a label on the early season edition of the Sudbury Wolves, it would have to be streaky.

The Sudbury Wolves season is only five games old and it’s hard to believe there are fans out there who want to see major changes after the first sign of trouble.

Almost six months have passed since the Wolves’ disappointing end to the 2011-12 season. A four-game sweep at the hands of the Brampton Battalion in the first round of the playoffs certainly left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

You may think a two-week trip to Russia and returning home with a gold medal is exactly the training camp the Sudbury Wolves needed to get ready for the 2012-2013 Ontario Hockey League season.

Training camp for the Sudbury Wolves doesn’t officially get underway for a couple of weeks, but the team is getting a head start on the competition, courtesy of a trip to Omsk, Russia.

With temperatures in the 30s range the last couple of weeks, what better way to cool off then with some hockey talk? Without wishing the summer away, we are now on the downside of the off-season.
