Thirteen-year-old girl reported missing

Greater Sudbury Police are asking the public's assistance in locating 13-year-old Chloe Dempster. Dempster is described as 4-9, with blonde shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and white jogging pants with black writing. 

Liberals promise income tax cuts if re-elected

The Liberal Party of Canada says its plan to lower taxes would give middle-class families an extra $600 a year. “We believe in helping those who need it most: middle-class Canadians and people working hard to join them,” said Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party of Canada in the news release. Read the full story here

Nickel Belt Green candidate vows net-zero carbon campaign

Nickel Belt Green candidate Casey Lalonde is vowing her campaign will be net zero carbon, despite the challenges of reaching voters in such a large riding. Conservatives push plans for new coast-to-coast energy corridor

Conservative leader Andrew Scheer has vowed a Tory government would create a National Energy Corridor. In a news release Saturday, Scheer explained that this new corridor would generate economic and social benefits to Canadians by transporting oil, gas, hydroelectricity, telecommunications and perhaps, other linear infrastructure. Read the full story here

Flour Mill Museum finds a new home at O'Connor Park

The Flour Mill Museum has been relocated to make way for major upgrades to one of Greater Sudbury's oldest and largest pieces of infrastructure: the St. Charles sewage lift station. Two structures from the original museum property were transported from 245 St. Charles St. to O'Connor Park (140 St. George St.) Saturday, with plans to set the buildings into their permanent foundation Monday. Read the full story here

Suspects confessed to B.C. murders in videos but showed no remorse: RCMP

Two suspects confessed to the murders of three people in northern British Columbia in several videos taken before they shot themselves in a suicide pact, the RCMP said Friday. The Mounties said Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19, expressed no remorse in the videos and did not explain their motives behind the killings that sparked a nationwide manhunt this summer. Hoping to make it three wins in a row, the Sudbury Wolves welcomed the Kitchener Rangers to the Sudbury Arena on Sunday in what would be their earliest season match-up since 1997-98. After a spirited match that went into overtime, the pack came out on top with a 5-4 win. Star centre Quinton Byfield had a goal and two assists -- including a helper on Shane Bulitka's OT winner. Cheers of a hometown crowd lead Wolves to victory

A crowd of 3,865 fans dressed in blue and white gathered at the Sudbury Community Arena Friday night, to watch the Sudbury Wolves face off against the North Bay Battalion in their 2019-20 home opener. Landing seven goals in one period, the Wolves secured an 11-3 victory against their Hwy 17 rivals, building on the momentum of Sunday's win against Mississauga. Local Taekwondo Poomsae athlete brings his talent to the world stage

Five years after competing on an international stage for the very first time, local Taekwondo Poomsae (forms) competitor Jim Gies would be traveling to the mecca of martial arts. With the World Cup in Wuxi (China) opening up their event to the Poomsae athletes, as well as their more traditional sparring base, Canada would send three representatives, including the local man who heads up North Roots Taekwondo in Falconbridge.
